PAWS - Pre-Authorized Withdrawal System

PAWS is now available to anyone wishing to make regular and hassle free donations to the animals. A donation in the amount of your choice is automatically withdrawn from your bank account at the same time each month. Not only is it easy for the donor, but it allows the shelter to plan ahead. Each individual receives one tax receipt at the end of the year for their total giving amount…it's as easy as that! You can click here to register online for the PAWS Program, or download a PAWS application form and mail or fax it in. For more information on the program please email the shelter or phone us at (403) 932-2072.

Make My Day Program

Will you make my day?Support a pet with the Make My Day Program for one day, one week or one month.  Each pet that is waiting to be adopted needs food, care, medical attention, love and socialization. By looking at the overall costs to operate the shelter and rescue, rehabilitate and re-home the animals that come into our care, we’ve calculated the cost to support a dog, cat or small animal on a per day basis: Make the Day of a dog for $40, Make the Day of a cat for $20, Make the Day of a small animal companion for $20.

When you participate in the Make My Certificat SampleDay Program, you will receive a certificate (see sample below) that shows which needy pet your donation has generously supported.  Perfect for Schools or for individuals who want to support the Cochrane & Area Humane Society in a way that has direct benefits to the animals. Or give to the Make My Day Program in honour of someone and they will receive an attractive certificate in the mail! Click here to Make the Day of a needy pet.

Become a Foster Home

One way of rescuing and rehabilitating more animals that need us when the shelter is at maximum capacity is by utilizing foster homes. Acting as a foster home is one of the most beneficial and rewarding things you can do to help out! We can only rescue animals that we have space and time for and often animals entering our doors are those of a special needs nature. Foster homes offer an opportunity for animals requiring extra care or attention to have a second chance at life.
Foster homes are provided with all of the necessary equipment required to successfully care for their foster pet including: a free standing dog run, a dog house and crate, dog food, blankets, bowls and leashes. As well, all veterinary care is provided and paid for by the Society. The cost to the foster home is minimal. Those interested in helping out in this manner must have their own pets sterilized and kept current with their vaccines. If you think you could open your home and your heart to foster care, please contact the Shelter Manager at (403) 932-2072 or by email for further information.
