Thank You!
A big thank you to PetSmart Charities for funding our 2008 Spay/Neuter project and helping us to rescue and re-home over 35 stray animals!
A Dog-gone Success!
The Cochrane and Area Humane Society held our 7th Annual Mutt Strut on Saturday September 6th at Mitford Park in Cochrane and surpassed our goal by $18,000! We raised over $48,000 and thanks to our wonderful sponsors, every single penny will go towards helping the animals in the shelter and supporting the Society's many programs and services!
Although the day started out cool, by mid morning the sun was shining and it was a scenic walk along the Bow River. The event was very well attended and Todd Gallant of Global TV made a fabulous emcee for the popular doggie fashion and talent show. The Marketplace had lots of goodies and info for 2 and 4 legged visitors and an agility track added more to the fun!
We would like to thank all the participants, volunteers and sponsors! A special thank you to our top pledge earner, Deidre Fennell, whose hard work and generosity is truly appreciated. Thanks to Deidre, the CAHS raised an additional $425 for the animals, when she graciously donated first prize back for a live auction!
We extend an extra thank-you to Cochrane Veterinary Care Clinic the Top Dog sponsor, Todd Gallant, our emcee and Snowy Owl Sled Dog Tours for sponsoring the First Prize sled dog trip.

Our Golf Tournament Raised Over $60,000!
Our 5th Annual Cochrane & Area Charity Golf Tournament “Saving Lives - Changing Lives” held August 18 was once again a huge success! The annual tournament held at the beautiful Links of Glen Eagles in Cochrane was sold out! The event raised $60,000 and all funds went to support the creation of an internal hospital at the shelter to better serve the animals we care for and help to save more lives!
The day was a hot one and started out with Bret, the Hitman Hart autographing his best selling book at registration. Bret even took time to cuddle with our furry friends! Before the shotgun start, a live Mulligans auction was held with 6 celebrity guests: Joe Carbury, BJ Wilson, Heath Brown, Hal Gardiner, Bearcat Murray and Tom Jackson. Teams bid to golf with the celebs and use their golfing skills as mulligans.
Several contests for great prizes were held throughout the day, including the Steve Rothfels Putting Competition! A big thank you to Cochrane Dodge for Sponsoring this competition!
We were delighted to welcome back Banff-Cochrane MLA Janis Tarchuk to the tournament!
A huge thanks goes out to our bighearted sponsors, the auction & prize donors for the fantastic items and all the golfers and celebrities for supporting this fabulous event. Our 5th Annual Gala!
Saturday, June 14th, 2008 was a rootin’ tootin’ good time as the Cochrane & Area Humane Society and ATB Financial hosted the sold out 4th Annual Saving Lives – Changing Lives Gala at the picturesque Cochrane RancheHouse.
Over 140 guests, dressed in their best “classy country” outfits, enjoyed a delicious buffet dinner, exciting live and silent auctions and outstanding entertainment, including early performances by Graham Mehain and Cort Delano, and the evening’s headliner, singer, songwriter and actor, Tom Jackson! Todd Gallant from Global was the evening’s humorous emcee.
Thanks to everyone who attended and our many other generous supporters, the Gala raised over $32,000 for the animals at the shelter and its new hospital project!

Canada's Largest Garage Sale A Success!
2nd Annual Saving Lives Fundraising Art Sale
Our 2nd annual Saving Lives Fundraising Art Sale was held on November 3rd at the Bearspaw Lifestyles Center. Featuring the work of 20 local talented artists, it was a well diversified show with lots of amazing art work, and a lot of fun to shop at. The $3500 proceeds from this event will go directly to support operations of our new animal care facility.
