Hi, I’m Sammy, nice to meet you! Here’s my story..

I arrived at the Cochrane Humane Society a year ago with my three siblings, all of them have found families of their own since then. Just after we showed up, we were diagnosed with a really serious illness, thank goodness for the amazing hospital and animal care staff, they helped us through it andnow we’re all happy and healthy! At the beginning of treatment I was so scared, I didn’t trust anyone and I felt safest curled up in the corner of the room. The animal care staff were so gentle with me, they gave me lots of space and little by little I felt more comfortable with them. After all that I was so lucky -I was handpicked to go straight to foster care, I didn’t know what any of that meant at the time, but let me tell you, it’s awesome! It’s a quiet home with three other dogs, they’re like my brothers now! These guys have shown me how to be a regular dog in this crazy world. Anywhere they go I happily follow along, I loved them immediately! It took a little bit longer for me to trust the humans of the household. I recognized one from the shelter so that helped a tiny bit. They let me have my space and didn’t rush me when I was figuring out how to live in a new home. Now I can’t get enough of them, I love cuddling on the couch and following them everywhere they go!

Life is pretty darn good these days - I sleep on the humans bed at night, get treats every day, and get to play all day with my foster dog brothers. Sometimes the humans even bring puppies home for me to play with for a couple days, they say I’m great at socializing and I haven’t met a dog I didn’t like! The girl that brought me home says it’s the best decision she’s ever made, and that the time spent growing our trust was totally worth it. I think she’s right, I love snuggling in bed and giving her morning kisses. For a shy guy, I really love the people that love me back. I just know there's someone out there that will be as lovely and patient with me as my foster mom!
