Families with Dogs Consultations

Turn your dog into a well-behaved family member

Are you a pet parent expecting a baby or planning on growing your human family? Do you worry that your dog might have difficulty adjusting to your new addition?
Let us prepare you and your dogs for the changes ahead. Our consults offer educational information, tips, and handouts for parents, as well as coaching you on how to train your dog with some new skills and routines.

Areas of focus include:

  • How to prepare your dog for life with baby/toddler
  • Bringing baby home
  • Increasing Dog Aware skills to recognize subtle signals of communication
  • Safety first—for everyone in the family, two- and four-legged
  • Evaluating and setting up management and Success Stations
  • Managing your dog through your child’s different stages of development

Family Paws Parent Education (FPPE) offers support and resources for families and professionals supporting new and expecting families with dogs. We believe strongly that early preparation prior to the birth or adoption of a baby into a dog-loving family is essential for safety and long-term success. Our parent education programs include ongoing support and programs that grow with your baby. We are here to guide you every step of the way as your baby grows and dog ages.
