Hector

Meet Hector, a handsome 2-year-old with a big heart, an excellent nose, and a growing appreciation for the finer things in life, particularly a comfy couch!

Hector has spent some time in a foster home, where we’ve had the chance to see what a wonderful companion he can be. He is quiet in the home, rarely barks, and absolutely loves a good cuddle. He’s even developed his own signature couch stretch: front half on the floor, back half still comfortably planted on the couch. Why get all the way up when halfway will do?

One of Hector’s favourite things is using his nose. He loves leisurely sniffing and exploring outside and can become completely absorbed in an especially interesting scent. He’s also shown us that he can be a lovely walking companion. On a recent outing, Hector walked at a calm pace with a loose leash for much of the walk, regularly checked in with his handler, and calmly watched the world around him, including people, birds, traffic, and even a big, noisy dump truck.

At home, Hector has a playful side too! He enjoys a good game of tug-of-war and is always happy to participate in a training session, especially when treats are involved. Food is definitely one of the great loves of Hector’s life, and his enthusiasm makes positive reinforcement training a great way to continue building his skills and confidence.

Hector is looking for a patient, committed family who understands that he is still learning. He’ll benefit from continued positive reinforcement training and thoughtful introductions to new people, places, and experiences. In return, his family will get a sweet, entertaining and affectionate companion who has already shown just how much potential he has in the right environment.

And be prepared: taking Hector out in public may involve accepting compliments from strangers. Apparently, being this handsome has consequences. ❤️
